TERMITES ROBOTIC

Termites robotic automata capable of constructing buildings

This just done in Harvard University , where a research team has created small robots inspired by termites and how they work can build complex structures independently, without following complicated plans or guidelines given by a central brain that directs
operation .
As the authors describe in a paper published in the journal Science , the user only has to specify the structure you want and termites robotic system gets to work autonomously develop simple rules that allow them to carry out the construction . Robots used only seven infrared sensors to detect the black and white patterns with bricks and operate with them. Following are equipped with a system that allows them to climb the structure itself that they are creating and five ultrasonic sensors to assess their own position and keep the distance around the perimeter of the ' building ' .
Unlike termites, humans need complicated plans to carry out complex structures. However, these animals build nests several meters high, hundreds of times the size of these insects , without a detailed plan or a foreman giving orders to the worker termites . Only build its congeners are playing where and how to interpret the environment where to put the mound carrying each. Somehow, these robotic termites act the same way.
